Here are Providence we have many different ministry opportunities for people of all ages to be a part of. Here are the different ministries you can get involved with and the person to contact about them:
Kids Club: Wednesday Night Kid's Ministry (Kindergarten-8th Grade)
Kids Club is an awesome opportunity for kids from grades K-8 to be involved. This is offered on Wednesday nights during the school year. A typical night of Kid's Club involves: Worship, Large Group lesson, Bible memorization time, and an activity time. Youth Group: (9th-12th Grade)
Our primary reason for Youth Group is to provide a safe space for young people to create a community of their peers so that they can grow in their faith. We accomplish this primarily by meeting on Wednesday nights in our Youth Room at 6:30pm for our weekly Bible Study. Our evenings consist of worship, devotions, Bible study, an activity, and refreshments. We also meet regularly on Sunday evenings for our social events focused on building and furthering relationships. One of the highlights of the year, is our annual summer mission trip. Through the years, our group has taken trips to Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Montana, New Orleans, Oklahoma City, & Columbus, OH. And we are currently making plans to head to Mexico this summer to build a couple of houses for two families in need. Women's Bible Study:
Our Women's Bible study is a great opportunity to dive into the Word and build relationships with the women in our congregation. They typically meet on Saturday mornings starting at 7AM. For more information you can contact Amanda Swartzentruber at 812-444-9813.
Stand Firm:
Our Stand Firm ministry is a men's ministry where we dive into Biblical truths and topics to grow men in the areas of faith, marriage, parenting, church, and community membership. We typically meet on Saturday mornings from 6AM-7:30AM. If you are interested in joining Stand Firm please contact Josh Swartzentruber at 812-787-1500.
Small Groups:
Our Small Groups ministry here at Providence is another opportunity for relationship building and diving into the Word. We have several different Small Groups that meet at least once a month at someone's house. Discipleship Training Program (DTP):
Our DTP program is a 2 year course that meets on Saturday mornings that is designed to train individuals in the Word. Satan's first recorded words to Eve in Genesis 3 were "Did God really say..." and Satan has continued to tempt us to question God's Word ever since. Our greatest defense for this tactic is the same one Jesus used when tempted by Satan - to better know and understand God's Word! This is the motivation behind DTP which is currently in its third cycle. Already over 20 men within our congregation have completed this 2-year program and are now applying that knowledge in their homes, at their jobs, and in service at Providence. Missions:
Here at Providence we desire to fulfill the Great Commission given to us in Matthew 28. In that desire we have put together a Mission's Committee that looks to fulfill physical and spiritual needs as we see opportunity to do so. Our Mission's Committee has done several service projects, arranged speakers, and helped donate money to several organizations over the years. Counseling:
We understand here at Providence that counseling is a vital part in church ministry. We have counseling opportunities for anyone that is seeking help with any issue they are currently going through. Our Head Pastor Kevin Swartzentruber would be glad to sit down with you to discuss anyway we can biblically help you through your problem. Contact Kevin at 812-444-9812 for more information.
Vacation Bible School:
Vacation Bible School (VBS) is a week long ministry that we do in June where kids come at night and learn about the bible. In the past we have had on average close to 200 kids from the area attend this event and grow in their relationship with the Lord. This year's VBS will be June 11th-15th!
